Annual General Meeting 2010

The band's AGM was held on Tuesday 12th January with a good representation of the membership present to review the past year and discuss strategy for 2010

The Derwent Brass Champagne Moment award is voted for by the members and is for any particular event or moment during the past year that could be considered a "Champagne Moment", whether it be a humerous incident, catastrophe, sublime playing, etc etc. After the votes were all counted up some interesting runner up nominations were noted, which included the Chairman Graham Johnson turning up at concerts minus music and instrument, percussion player Sam Jowett suffering a broken wrist the night before a major contest, and several votes for solo trombone player Martyn Johnson for his charismatic input into Derwent Brass life along with some superb solo performances. However the overall clear winner was once again the band's principle cornet player Dave Neville, the votes being for his sublime performances of a new cornet solo arrangement of Silent Night which Dave performed at The Assembly Rooms, Landau Forte Theatre, St Helens CHurch Etwall and St Peters Church Belper over the Christmas season.

Congratulations to Dave who was the Carl Richardson Memorial Trophy, (shown above)

The award for Bandperson of the Year award (selected by the band's Musical Director) this year went to flugel horn player Pam Davis. The band's MD (Keith |Leonard) commented that Pam is the ideal bandperson, totally reliable with a 100% attendance record, and always willing to do stand up solos, be involved in choreography, ensemble performances, in fact anything that is asked of her.

Formal election of officers and committee saw several new faces to strengthen the band committee.
