Christmas Comes Early for Derwent

Derwent Brass entered into the early festive spirit recently when they joined forces with the Derby Hospitals Choir for their annual Christmas concert. This saw the band once again grace the stages of the Derby Assembly Rooms just a few weeks after their annual concert with the world famous Treorchy Male Choir.

Compered by friend of the band, Steven Blakely from ITV’s ‘Heartbeat’ series, a capacity crowd helped to raise money for the charity, Parkinson’s UK.

Derwent, under the guest direction of John Davis, was in fine form playing music by Peter Graham and Darroll Barry alongside Mel Torme and Gordon Langford and also accompanied Carole Crompton who performed a solo version of ‘You Raise Me’ up as a thank you to the hospital for treatment she received recently.

The whole evening raised around £6,000.
