Good 'Lock' for Derwent at Groby Contest

The Leicestershire Brass Band Association (LBBA) hold an annual 'Autumn Member Contest' at Groby Community College specifically for the competition of Solos, Duet and Quartets.

This year, following a recent subscription to the LBBA by Derwent Brass, the band's Repiano Cornet player, Chris Lock, entered the competition in both the open 'Air Varie' and 'Slow Melody' sections. Coming a very respectful 4th place in the 'Air Varie' section with his own rendition of 'Robin Adair', Chris went on to take First Prize in the 'Slow Melody' contest with a performance of  Dvorak's 'Rusalka's Song To The Moon', arranged by Gordon Langford.

Trevor Groom (most known for his playing career with the famous Virtuosi GUS band) , who adjudicated Chris's performance, commented most specifically on his good dynamic contrast, quality of note production and confidence throughout.

Well Done Chris!
