Help For Heroes

The Derwent Brass 10pc Ensemble were recently asked to perform at another private wedding function and as normal the band accepted and mixed in well with all the usual proceedings. However, on this occasion and true to Derwent form, it was a little more than just your average performance; mix in well with the service the band did, but all in the style of the motion picture 'Love Actually'!

This saw players from the ensemble replicate the famous marriage scene from the film by mingling in with members of the audience at the ceremony and then popping up to play their parts in what can only be described as a suprise performance of the Beatle's classic 'All You Need Is Love'. This was arranged specifially for the event, together with other requests by our Musical Director, Keith Leonard.

Mandy and Mike who tied the knot on Sunday 7th November in Derby, arranged for all donations made to be passed onto 'Help For Heroes', the charity formed to help those who have been wounded in Britain's current conflicts. This kind gesture meant that well in excess of £300 was raised for this worthy cause. 'Help For Heroes' is an organisation close to the happy couple's hearts and in particular Mike's connections with the RAF were recognised by the ensemble closing proceedings with a rousing rendition of the famous theme from 'Dambusters'.

"You were fantastic! It was all perfect. Loved the Dambusters......Thank you so much, you gave our wedding an extra little twist and everyone loved it." (Mandy)

The band would like to congratulate Mandy and Mike and wish them both the very best for the future!
