Percussion Elliot Davis

Elliot was born into a musical family, most notably as the son of John Davis, the well-known Midlands based conductor of many bands including Riddings, Dronfield, Newstead and Unite the Union.

As an early teen he reguarly depped for Derwent over many events before joining the band full time in 2014, leaving his former position as Principal Percussionist with the Dronfield Band. Elliot is a highly verstatile percussionist who has performed with a number of top section bands, including the famous Flowers Band, Grimethorpe Colliery and Carlton Main Frickley.

Percussion Steve Hargreaves

Steve started his musical career with the Bridgenorth and District Brass Band, Telford Silver Band and the Hymac (Rhymney) Band in Wales. He has played for numerous orchestras including the Shropshire Schools Symphony Orchestra, Concert Band, Brass Band and Chamber Orchestra, the Shrewsbury Light Orchestra and several small jazz bands.

Steve has completed tours of Canada, Sweden, Russia and Germany, and more than 30 shows including West Side Story, Gilbert and Sullivan, and many more whilst playing in pit orchestras. It was during this time that he achieved Grade 8 percussion with tutorage from renowned percussionist James Blade (who made the actual sound of  the Rank Organisation gong!). Steve has also played under the baton of some very prestigous names including Sir Andrew Davis and Nigel Kennedy, and most notably performed the Milhaud Percussion Concerto at the Moscow Conservatoire and in concert with Julian Lloyd-Webber.

After completing college, he established his business as a piano tuner and restorer which has been a success spanning four decades. His work is in demand all over the UK and his restoration portfolio captures makers such as as Steinway, Bösendorfer and Bechstein, as well as tuning on behalf of Blüthner. His vast expertise also extends to custom piano cabinet finishes for the likes of Harrods, Elle MacPherson, various London design studios and private clients.

Steve has performed with many top brass bands across the country including the famous Fodens Band and is a valued member of the section, both as a musician and also lead on the band's percussion inventory and maintenance.

Percussion Justine Reid

Justine returned to full time music in 2018 following a sabbatical to concentrate on her career as a GP, but had previously performed with Derwent Brass most notably on the British Sea Power 'Sea of Brass' tour.

Her previous playing experience includes the Derbyshire County Youth Orchestra, and Windbands, as well as the Orchestra of United Medical and Dental Schools of Guys and St Thomas. She has performed at the Royal Albert Hall Proms and also toured the Netherlands for the World Youth Festival.

Percussion Adam Bloor

Adam is a young, experienced and hugely talented percussionist who joined the ranks of Derwent Brass in 2018. He was taught the kit by legendary drummer Dave Armshaw and has has performed in the finals of the Young Drummer of the Year and other national kit competitions. He is a regular feature in band performances, particuarly in our big band and other exposed kit formats.

As well a being a member of Derwent Brass, Adam is also the kit player of 'The Lapels' who recently released their first EP. He also plays with City and County youth bands and orchestras which enabled him to perform at the Royal Northern College of Music in the National Concert Band Festival as well as tours in Belguim and France playing at such places as DisneyLand Paris and the Menin Gate.
