New Trom Duo

Derwent Brass are pleased to announce the signing of both Tim Mossad and Blaise Andrews to fulfil the recently departed Tenor Trombone seats at the popular Derbyshire based band.

Former Solo Trombonist Martyn Johnson whose previous time with the band spanned some 11 years, recently left to concentrate on his big band playing opportunities. The position however has been swiftly fulfilled by Tim Mossad who has played with several other bands previously, the most recent of which being Solo Trombone with other Midland’s contenders Newstead Brass Band.

Joining Tim on 2nd Trombone is Blaise Andrews replacing Max Stannard whose career progression has seen him move away from the area. Blaise also brings with him a substantial playing history, particularly a strong military experience having played with the 3rd Battalion (Quebec) Queens Regt Band, 1 PWRR Band, Adjutant Generals Corps Band, Band of the Dragoon Guards, and more recently Band of the Kings Division (W&B).

Keith Leonard musical director commented: “I am delighted to welcome both Tim and Blaise to our band. They have a wealth of experience and in joining John Hickling (Bass Trombone) will form a very talented section and one that I eagerly look forward to working with.”

The committee of Derwent Brass would like to thank both Martyn and Max for their efforts during their time with the band and in particular would like to acknowledge the impressive tenure of Martyn spanning over a decade of quality Solo Trombone playing. Equally we warmly welcome both Tim and Blaise who are clearly going to form a very strong section indeed.
