Derwent Brass is delighted to announce the launch of our official fundraising campaign as we prepare to represent Derbyshire at the Championship Section Final of the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain at the iconic Royal Albert Hall.
Earlier this year, the band achieved one of the most significant milestones in its history by qualifying for the National Finals through the Midlands Area Brass Band Championships. In doing so, we believe Derwent Brass became the first Derbyshire band in almost 30 years to secure qualification to the Championship Section National Final via the Regional Championships.
For our players, supporters and everyone who has been part of the Derwent Brass journey, it was a moment of immense pride. It reflects years of hard work, dedication and a shared commitment to musical excellence.
As a community brass band, everything we achieve is made possible by volunteers. Our players give their time freely, balancing rehearsals, concerts and competitions alongside work, family and other commitments. Reaching the Royal Albert Hall is a tremendous reward for that commitment, but it also brings significant costs.
Travel, accommodation, rehearsal facilities and contest preparation all form part of the journey to the National Finals. To help support the band's participation, we have launched our official fundraising campaign:
Derwent Brass Road to the Royal Albert Hall Appeal
Every donation, no matter the size, will help us prepare for and attend this prestigious event. Whether you are a regular concert-goer, a former player, a supporter of brass banding, or simply someone who believes in the value of community music, your support will make a real difference.
We are incredibly grateful for every contribution and every message of encouragement we receive.
Together, let's help take Derbyshire to the Royal Albert Hall.
Thank you for being part of the Derwent Brass story.
