Russell Watson Returns to Derby Cathedral for 25th Anniversary Concert with Derwent Brass and Nancy May.

World-renowned tenor Russell Watson, the UK’s best-selling classical artist of all time, will return to Derby Cathedral on Saturday 11 April 2026 for a spectacular 25th Anniversary Special Concert, joined by special guests Derwent Brass and soprano Nancy May.

The concert marks 25 years since the release of Watson’s debut album, The Voice, which launched him as a major classical crossover artist and began an extraordinary international career.

Promoted by La Voce Events, the concert will present an evening of powerful vocal performances, symphonic brass, and crossover repertoire in one of Derbyshire’s most iconic venues.

The collaboration builds on the outstanding success of the artists’ 2024 performances, when Russell Watson, Derwent Brass and Nancy May appeared together in sold-out concerts at Derby Cathedral and Liverpool Anglican Cathedral, the final concert of their 2024 season. Those performances featured brand new arrangements created especially for the collaboration, including Jerusalem, Someone to Remember Me, and a collection of newly crafted festive arrangements, and received critical acclaim.

Looking ahead to 2026, the anniversary concert will continue this creative approach, ensuring audiences are left captivated with a distinctive, life-affirming experience.

Russell Watson’s career spans almost three decades and includes multiple No.1 albums, four Classical BRIT Awards, international tours, and performances at some of the world’s most prestigious venues. Renowned for his powerful tenor voice and crossover appeal, he remains one of the most recognisable and successful classical artists internationally.

Derwent Brass is a multi-award-winning brass ensemble with a growing national reputation for musical excellence, innovative programming, and high-profile collaborations. The band is also the only brass band to have received an award from the Royal Philharmonic Society, reflecting its artistic ambition and rising profile on national concert platforms.

Chris Leonard, Band Manager of Derwent Brass, said:

“Russell is a truly special artist to perform with. His voice has extraordinary power and presence, but what really stands out is his character — he brings warmth, optimism and an infectious positivity to every collaboration. He’s not only one of the most important singers of his generation, but also a genuinely lovely person, and it’s a real privilege for Derwent Brass to share the stage with him once again.”

Tickets for this one-night performance are on sale now and are expected to sell quickly following the success of previous concerts.
