RPS Inspiration Award Winner Derwent Brass is delighted to announce it has joined the Royal Philharmonic Society.

Founded by musicians in 1813, the Royal Philharmonic Society has always been at the heart of music, creating opportunities for musicians to excel and championing the vital role that music plays in our lives. It is there to support performers, composers and young musicians in the many challenging situations artists can face.

Our experience is testament to the nationwide profile raising benefits achieved through the RPS Awards which are hosted in addition to various filmed talks and other events, all crafted to cultivate pride and support for so many artists and initiatives worth discovering.

Derwent Brass recently made history by becoming the first brass band to win an RPS Award and is also believed to be the first brass band to become a member of the Royal Philharmonic Society.

"Derwent Brass captured the imaginations of so many music-lovers at the RPS Awards earlier this month, and we’re so pleased to welcome an RPS Award-winning ensemble to our network. Their support will help us to continue our charitable activities such as championing classical music at events like the RPS Awards, and providing grants, performing opportunities and commissions to musicians at critical stages in their careers." Band Manager Chris Leonard added:

"The band is delighted to join such a prestigious enterprise and looks forward to both supporting others and reaping the benefits of our corporate membership pathway. We genuinely can't thank the team at the Royal Philharmonic Society enough for the transformational opportunities they have awarded us. There was a very strong appetite to become members, not only to give something back, but also to add longevity to this award and relationship which are now so dear to us."

Whether you're an amateur or professional ensemble, an organisation devoted to music, or work in a different sector entirely, you too can be associated with the RPS and draw on the strong links and insights into every corner of the musical ecology.
